Want To Become An NAMB
Certified Instructor?
The MMA is
always looking for members who may have an interest in becoming
NAMB Certified Instructors.
There are three
basic steps to
becoming an NAMB Certified Instructor. Interested
individuals must be a MMA/NAMB member in good standing and
be able to committed to the following training steps:
1. Power
Up Your Skills Training
2. Train the Trainer I
3. Train the Trainer II
Power
Up Your Skills Training
This is a two-day, eight-hours-a-day interactive instructor
training course. At the end of the first day of class,
participants should know how to:
Assess training needs according to the various elements of
adult learning styles and the internal and external
environment of the class.
Organize training according to the course objectives.
Select effective delivery methods and training aids, and
incorporate them into the training session.
Practice efficiently for the training session.
Prepare for questions and possible problems.
Using
practice presentations in addition to classroom instruction,
the participants on the second day will learn:
Four key characteristics of master instructors and three key
principles of effective training.
Methods to improve retention.
How to use metaphors and stories to enhance training.
Participants will be videotaped twice during each day of
class.
Participants will be evaluated by the course instructors and
must receive a positive evaluation before they can proceed
to the next step of instructor training.
Train
the Trainer I
Once potential instructors have received a positive
evaluation from their Power Up Your Skills Training, they
proceed to this step of training—Train the Trainer I.
Potential instructors need to determine which MMA/NAMB
courses they wish to teach. For each course they wish to
teach, they must attend the entire course as a student
first, which is Train the Trainer I.
Train the Trainer II
Once
potential trainers have attended courses as a student, they
may proceed to the next step of training—Train the Trainer
II. For each course potential instructors wish to teach,
they must co-teach a portion or the entire course before
they are approved to teach any course solo. Following
instructors’ co-teach training, they will be evaluated for
readiness to teach solo. Once instructors are approved to
teach a course or courses solo, they will be provided with
the necessary teaching materials (power point presentations,
etc.) to teach those courses throughout our state.
